Introduction
2019-06-20---2021-07-10
I came to Weihai for grad school and lived here for two years. It’s a great place to settle down: mountains, the sea, blue skies, great food, an airport, a port, fewer crowds, and genuinely nice people. The wind, though, is seriously intense.

A few years after graduation, I came back to Weihai with my girlfriend to attend her best friend’s wedding.
1. Ferry
2019-06-08
It was my first time taking a ferry, from Dalian to Weihai. They said it would take eight hours, but it actually took almost ten. No internet, no signal, and a lot of wind.
2. Huanhai Road
2019-09-10
Huanhai Road has mountains on the left and the sea on the right. It’s beautiful.
3. Rongcheng
2019-09-20
During the Mid-Autumn Festival, I rented a car with a buddy. We went to Rongcheng first, then Qingdao and Huangdao, and finally back to Weihai. Rongcheng is even a little cleaner than Weihai, and the roads are wider too. Too bad the weather was bad both days we were there.
4. Golden Beach
2020-09-15
Just outside the north gate of campus is the beach. It isn’t as famous as the beach by neighboring Shandong University, but it’s still gorgeous.
5. Torch Eighth Street

6. Jiming Island
2026-05-02
We took a boat to the island, with lots of seagulls circling the boat.
7. Sakura Lake Park
2026-05-03
A park in Rongcheng. During the May Day holiday, a lot of kids were flying kites there.
8. Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai
2026-05-03
I hadn’t been back much since graduating in 2021.
