I’d heard great things about Xuzhou’s barbecue, so I made a special trip to check it out.

It was my first time seeing plane tree-lined streets in a northern city.

My girlfriend found a cold noodle shop and a barbecue joint on Xiaohongshu—both were delicious. Xuzhou barbecue is on par with Xinjiang’s, and honestly better than Zibo or Northeast-style barbecue. The “oil-wrapped liver” in particular was absolutely unbeatable.
