Introduction

This was my second time in Xining for a business trip. The first time was about 10 years ago, around 2015, when my dad was working on a project here. I spent over 20 days in Xining during my summer break. Unfortunately, those memories are a bit blurry now—and I can’t find any of the photos from back then. Xining is known as the “Summer Capital,” and it really lives up to that name. It’s super cool in the summer. The day I left Xining for Hefei, it was only 20°C here, while Hefei was hitting nearly 40°C. That’s a crazy difference. The only downside? The sun. I remember the first time I came, my cousin and I played basketball all afternoon—and ended up as dark as coal.

Aside from the cool weather, Xining is also a paradise for foodies—especially if you love beef and lamb. I definitely ate my fill.
