First stop of the Golden Week road trip: from Beijing to Ulanqab. Not the best timing—the grass had already gone yellow, so it wasn’t as stunning as the photos online, but the autumn scenery was still nice.

A commercial street with a clear Mongolian vibe—Mongolian milk tea, traditional dance performances, and even a cheeky “Granny Wang” matchmaking show. Lively and fun.
3. Huitengxile Grassland

Drove out from downtown Ulanqab—grass along the way was all yellow, and it was pretty chilly. Some folks were already wearing down jackets.
